China, Spain Forge Green Energy and AI Partnerships in High-Level Talks

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Spain's King Felipe VI pledged to deepen economic collaboration during Thursday's high-level talks in Beijing, focusing on green technology and artificial intelligence as key drivers for bilateral growth. The meeting, held during the Spanish monarch's state visit, comes as both nations seek to revitalize global trade amid sluggish economic recovery.

Premier Li emphasized China's commitment to expanding industrial cooperation in photovoltaic energy, green hydrogen production, and power battery technologies. 'Our nations can leverage complementary strengths to create resilient supply chains,' Li stated, highlighting opportunities in third-market development and cultural tourism exchanges.

The discussions marked the 20th anniversary of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, with King Felipe VI reaffirming Madrid's adherence to the one-China policy. Both leaders endorsed strengthened EU-China coordination, particularly in multilateral frameworks addressing climate change and digital transformation.

Notable agreements included plans for joint research initiatives in AI applications and streamlined investment processes for renewable energy projects. The Spanish delegation confirmed upcoming business missions to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces to explore smart manufacturing collaborations.
