Russia Launches Massive Strikes on Ukrainian Military, Energy Sites

Russian forces conducted coordinated strikes targeting Ukraine's military-industrial complexes and energy infrastructure on Saturday, escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the operation utilized hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, combat drones, and long-range precision weapons across air, land, and sea platforms.

"All designated targets have been hit," stated ministry officials, characterizing the action as retaliation for alleged Ukrainian attacks on civilian sites. Moscow claims its air defenses intercepted 178 drones and two guided bombs during the 24-hour period.

Ukrainian authorities reported intercepting 406 of 458 drones and nine of 45 missiles launched overnight, though critical infrastructure sustained damage. The conflicting accounts highlight the intensifying technological arms race, with both sides deploying advanced drone warfare capabilities.

Analysts note the strikes coincide with renewed international focus on energy security, particularly in European markets sensitive to disruptions in Ukrainian gas transit systems. The Kinzhal missiles' deployment – capable of evading conventional air defenses – underscores evolving military strategies in modern warfare.
