China Champions Global Trade at Record-Breaking CIIE Expo in Shanghai

The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened in Shanghai this week, drawing a record 4,108 overseas exhibitors from 155 countries and regions. With its largest-ever exhibition area exceeding 430,000 square meters, the event underscores China's role as a stabilizing force in global economic cooperation amid geopolitical uncertainties.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the nation's commitment to high-standard opening-up policies during his keynote address, pledging to expand market access for service industries and strengthen international trade frameworks. 'This expo demonstrates China's consistent support for multilateralism and shared development,' stated Wu Zhengping of the CIIE Bureau, highlighting global confidence in China's economic strategies.

Analysts note the expo's growing influence as a platform for cross-border partnerships, particularly in emerging sectors like green technology and digital services. The event's scale reflects renewed interest from multinational corporations seeking access to Asia's largest consumer market despite global inflationary pressures.
