China, Brazil Strengthen Strategic Ties for Shared Future

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang called for enhanced collaboration with Brazil during high-level talks in Belem this week, emphasizing mutual modernization goals and economic alignment. The discussions with Rui Costa, Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Presidency, highlighted progress in bilateral relations under the strategic guidance of both nations' leaders.

Ding, a senior Communist Party of China official, noted that China's newly adopted 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) creates fresh opportunities for cooperation. 'We must become reliable partners in each other's development journeys,' he stated, pointing to infrastructure, technology, and green energy as priority sectors.

The dialogue underscored Brazil's role as a key regional leader, with China expressing support for strengthened ties between Mercosur and CELAC blocs. Costa affirmed Brazil's commitment to deepening strategic coordination, stating: 'Our people recognize China's crucial role in driving economic growth and improving livelihoods.'

Both sides agreed to accelerate implementation of joint projects and expand cultural exchanges, building on what Ding described as 'the best period in China-Brazil relations.' The meeting follows recent bilateral agreements on trade facilitation and sustainable development initiatives.
