China’s 15th National Games Press Center Opens Friday in Guangzhou

Guangzhou gears up to host global media as the Main Press Center for China’s 15th National Games prepares to open its doors on Friday. The Guangdong Division’s Executive Committee confirmed operational readiness during a Wednesday briefing, highlighting streamlined services for over 3,200 registered journalists from across the world.

The venue will provide broadcasting support to 29 authorized provincial and municipal broadcasters, with organizers projecting distribution of more than 300 live signals to audiences worldwide. This marks China’s largest domestic sports event since the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, blending athletic competition with cultural diplomacy.

Beyond its media functions, the center’s first floor showcases Lingnan intangible cultural heritage displays alongside interactive technology exhibits. Visitors can explore traditional crafts, National Games-themed artwork, and limited-edition merchandise—a strategic fusion of regional identity and modern innovation.

The Games, held every four years, underscore China’s focus on sports development and soft power. With events split between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the collaboration highlights cross-regional coordination while offering economic opportunities for host cities through tourism and infrastructure upgrades.
