China, Serbia Forge Stronger Ties in Trade and Innovation

Strategic Partnership Gains Momentum at Shanghai Meeting

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation during high-level talks at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. The meeting marked a significant step in implementing agreements reached through two head-of-state summits earlier this year.

Economic Synergy Takes Center Stage

Premier Li emphasized plans to align China's 15th Five-Year Plan with Serbia's 'Serbia 2035' strategy through enhanced use of their Free Trade Agreement. Key infrastructure projects like the Belgrade–Budapest railway were highlighted as pillars of Belt and Road cooperation, alongside emerging opportunities in AI, green energy, and biomedicine.

Cultural Bridges and Global Governance

Beyond economic ties, both leaders committed to expanding cultural exchanges in tourism, education, and sports. Premier Li reaffirmed China's commitment to multilateral cooperation through UN platforms, advocating for shared global development initiatives.

Mutual Support Strengthens Foundation

Prime Minister Macut reiterated Serbia's adherence to the one-China principle while praising China's role in supporting Serbia's development. The leaders agreed to maintain high-level political coordination, positioning their partnership as a model for South-East Europe-China relations.
