China Calls on Netherlands to Address Nexperia Semiconductor Dispute

China has urged the Netherlands to resolve a dispute involving semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia, emphasizing the need to safeguard global supply chains and bilateral economic ties. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued a statement on Tuesday, criticizing Dutch authorities for interfering in corporate operations and urging constructive dialogue.

Semiconductor Supply Chain at Risk

A ministry spokesperson warned that the Netherlands’ failure to address the issue could worsen disruptions to the global semiconductor industry, which is already facing challenges due to geopolitical tensions. Nexperia, an overseas subsidiary of Chinese tech firm Wingtech, has become a focal point in cross-border trade discussions.

Protecting Global Economic Stability

The spokesperson stressed China’s commitment to defending the legitimate rights of its businesses while advocating for stable industrial chains. “China hopes the Dutch side will act responsibly to maintain the hard-won momentum of China-Netherlands and China-Europe economic cooperation,” the statement read.

Analysts suggest the dispute reflects broader tensions over technology governance and market access. The outcome could influence investment flows in Europe’s semiconductor sector, a critical industry for AI, automotive, and consumer electronics.
