The 15th World Socialism Forum opened in Beijing on Monday, bringing together over 90 international Marxist scholars and foreign diplomats to explore pathways for socialist development amid global challenges. Hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), this year's theme – 'At the Crossroads of World History: The Choice of All Nations' – reflects growing interest in alternative governance models as geopolitical tensions reshape international relations.
Platform for Global Dialogue
Since its founding in 2004, the biennial forum has evolved into a key platform for cross-cultural academic exchange. Participants analyze socialist theories and practices while discussing China's development strategies under its unique political framework. This year's discussions emphasize comparative studies of socialist systems and their adaptability to modern economic and technological shifts.
Bridging Theory and Practice
The event, co-sponsored by CASS's World Socialism Research Center and two other institutes, highlights China's efforts to foster international academic collaboration. A diplomat from Latin America noted: 'This forum allows us to move beyond Western-centric narratives and examine development through diverse ideological lenses.'
Proceedings will conclude on Tuesday with a synthesis report outlining key insights on sustainable governance models and multilateral cooperation frameworks.
