Chinese Vice President Han Zheng concluded a two-day visit to Kuwait, reaffirming Beijing's commitment to deepening strategic cooperation with the Gulf nation. During meetings with Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, both sides pledged to expand collaboration across energy, infrastructure, and multilateral governance frameworks.
Han emphasized China's reform agenda outlined at the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, highlighting opportunities for Kuwaiti partners in China's expanding markets. The two nations agreed to accelerate implementation of bilateral agreements signed under their leaders' guidance, particularly under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
Kuwait's leadership expressed strong support for China's Global Governance Initiative and other multilateral proposals, with Emir Al-Sabah noting Kuwait's status as the first Gulf Arab state to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1971. Both countries committed to enhancing coordination on Middle Eastern stability, particularly regarding the Palestinian issue.
With 2026 marking the 55th anniversary of Sino-Kuwaiti diplomatic relations, officials announced plans to leverage their economic complementarity – pairing Kuwait's energy resources with Chinese technological expertise – while strengthening cultural exchanges. The visit concluded with agreements to advance key projects in transportation and digital infrastructure development.
