Xi Jinping Stresses China’s Commitment to Peaceful Development at APEC Meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China's dedication to peaceful global engagement during a high-profile meeting with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump on Thursday, emphasizing that Beijing 'never seeks to challenge or replace any country.' The remarks came as Xi arrived in Busan for the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, followed by a state visit to the Republic of Korea.

Speaking against the backdrop of heightened geopolitical tensions, Xi underscored China’s focus on domestic development and international cooperation. 'Our priority is to manage our own affairs well while fostering mutual growth through dialogue,' he stated, positioning China as a stabilizing force in Asia-Pacific economic integration.

The APEC gathering, which brings together leaders from 21 member economies, serves as a critical platform for addressing regional trade challenges and sustainable growth strategies. Analysts suggest Xi’s message aims to reassure partners amid evolving supply chain dynamics and technological competition.

Xi’s subsequent visit to the Republic of Korea marks the first Chinese state visit to the country in nearly a decade, signaling potential advancements in bilateral cooperation on semiconductor manufacturing and green energy initiatives.
