Xi Jinping Arrives in ROK for APEC Leaders’ Meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Busan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), on Thursday to participate in the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting. The visit underscores China's commitment to fostering regional economic cooperation and addressing shared challenges in the Asia-Pacific.

As leaders from 21 APEC member economies gather, discussions are expected to focus on post-pandemic recovery, sustainable trade practices, and digital innovation. Analysts highlight the significance of Xi's bilateral meetings with ROK officials, which aim to strengthen supply chain resilience and expand technological collaboration between the two nations.

This marks Xi's first visit to the ROK since 2014, reflecting warming ties amid shifting global economic dynamics. Trade between China and the ROK reached $362 billion in 2022, with semiconductor and green energy sectors driving growth.

APEC, established in 1989, represents nearly 40% of the global population and over 60% of worldwide GDP. The forum's outcomes are closely watched by investors and policymakers navigating Asia's evolving economic landscape.
