Peng Liyuan, spouse of Chinese President Xi Jinping, joined UN Under-Secretary-General Sima Bahous at a Beijing exhibition showcasing China's advancements in digital empowerment for women and girls on Tuesday. The event coincided with the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, highlighting technology's role in advancing gender equality.

"New-generation information technologies have become a driving force for women to pursue their aspirations," stated Peng, who also serves as a UNESCO special envoy for girls' and women's education. She emphasized how China's digital innovation creates transformative opportunities in education, employment, and cultural preservation.

Bahous commended China's measurable progress in bridging the digital gender divide, noting: "These efforts set a valuable precedent for safeguarding women's rights through technological solutions." Both leaders called for international collaboration to ensure women's full participation in the digital intelligence era.

Attendees experienced interactive demonstrations including a smart cloud classroom connecting rural students with urban educators, and Spring Bud Project participants solving Rubik's Cubes via programmed robots. The exhibition also featured digital reinterpretations of traditional cultural arts.

The event drew spouses of foreign leaders and representatives from 87 countries, underscoring growing global interest in China's gender-inclusive tech development model.
