China Releases Video of Philippine Vessel Collision in Disputed Waters

China's Coast Guard has released footage of a collision involving Philippine vessels near Tiexian Jiao in the Nansha Islands, escalating tensions in the contested South China Sea. The incident occurred Sunday after two Philippine government ships allegedly entered waters claimed by China without authorization.

According to a statement from China Coast Guard (CCG) spokesperson Liu Dejun, Philippine vessels 3002 and 3003 'illegally intruded' into the area. At approximately 9:19 a.m., vessel 3003 reportedly ignored repeated warnings and executed a 'dangerous approach' toward CCG ship 21559, resulting in contact between the two.

'The responsibility lies entirely with the Philippines,' Liu asserted, emphasizing that China's response was 'professional, standardized, and lawful.' The CCG published video evidence to support its claims, though Manila has yet to issue an official response.

The Nansha Islands, known internationally as the Spratlys, remain a focal point of regional disputes due to their strategic location and resource-rich waters. Analysts suggest such incidents could test diplomatic efforts to maintain stability in one of Asia's most critical maritime corridors.
