Yuan Yue Triumphs in Wuhan Open, Wang Xinyu Faces Early Exit

China's Yuan Yue delivered a gritty performance at the WTA Wuhan Open, overcoming Italy's Lucia Bronzetti 7-6(2), 7-6(1) in a tense two-hour battle marked by grueling rallies. The World No. 69, who saved multiple break points, will next face seventh-seeded Jasmine Paolini as she eyes a deep run in the tournament.

Fellow Chinese player Wang Xinyu endured a heartbreaking exit, falling 6-4, 7-6(6) to Japan's Uchijima Moyuka. Wang fought back from 5-3 down in the second set but faltered in the tiebreak, later reflecting on her struggles: "This Chinese swing has been tougher mentally… I end up inventing extra problems for myself."

Elsewhere, Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova and Denmark's Clara Tauson advanced comfortably, underscoring the competitive intensity of the $2.2 million event that attracts global tennis stars to central China.
