The 27-year-old debutant lifted 138kg in the snatch and 164kg in clean and jerk, totaling 302kg – a triumphant performance that underscored China's dominance in the sport.
Thailand's Theerapong Silachai trailed closely with 299kg for silver, while Pang Un Chol of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) claimed bronze at 295kg. Chinese newcomer Yuan Hao also made waves by setting a junior world snatch record of 132kg, finishing fifth overall.
In the women's 53kg division, DPRK's Kang Hyon Gyong swept two golds with a 214kg total, while Romania's Mihaela-Valentina Cambei took snatch gold. The event highlighted Asia's weightlifting prowess, with athletes from China, the DPRK, and Thailand claiming six of nine available medals.
