Guizhou’s Huajiang Canyon Bridge Sets World Record with Stunning Night Display

Guizhou Province has unveiled a new engineering marvel as the Huajiang Canyon Bridge – now the world's largest steel truss suspension bridge over a mountainous canyon – opened to traffic on September 28. Spanning 2,890 meters across a 625-meter-deep gorge, the structure features a record-breaking 1,420-meter main span that pushes the boundaries of modern infrastructure.

By night, the bridge transforms into a luminous spectacle with dynamic LED lighting that cascades across its framework in rhythmic color patterns. This artistic illumination system enhances both safety and aesthetic appeal for travelers along the newly operational Liuzhi-Anlong Expressway.

Construction teams completed the $460 million project in 1,340 days, overcoming complex geological challenges through innovative engineering solutions. The bridge's completion marks a significant improvement in regional connectivity, reducing travel time between Guizhou's mountainous regions by nearly two hours.

As China continues to develop its western provinces, projects like the Huajiang Canyon Bridge demonstrate how infrastructure investment can combine practical transportation needs with technological innovation and artistic vision.
