12th Silk Road Film Festival Opens in Fuzhou, Showcasing Global Cinema

The 12th Silk Road International Film Festival launched Monday in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, bringing together filmmakers and enthusiasts from 136 countries and regions. Running through September 26 under the theme "Silk Road Connects the World, Film Festival Illuminates Fuzhou," the event highlights cross-cultural dialogue through 2,065 submitted films.

Organizers unveiled 12 core activities, including outdoor screenings along the Min River and the prestigious Golden Silk Road Awards ceremony. A festival spokesperson noted this year\u2019s record-breaking participation reflects growing international interest in Asian storytelling and co-production opportunities.

Business analysts highlight the festival\u2019s role in boosting Fujian\u2019s creative economy, while cultural experts emphasize its value in preserving Silk Road heritage through modern media. Screenings feature works from Belt and Road partner countries alongside European and Latin American entries.

"This festival bridges continents through the universal language of cinema," said Chen Hui, a local cultural affairs official. The event concludes Sunday with awards recognizing achievements in directing, cinematography, and cross-cultural collaboration.
