Global Support for Palestinian Statehood Grows, Isolating U.S. and Israel: CGTN Poll

A recent CGTN survey reveals growing international consensus on Palestinian statehood, with 152 UN member states now recognizing Palestine. The poll highlights mounting pressure on Israel and its key ally, the United States, as global opinion shifts toward resolving one of Asia's most enduring geopolitical challenges.

Of 12,104 respondents across five language platforms, 81.8% endorsed establishing a sovereign Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The findings come amid staggering casualty figures from Gaza health authorities – over 65,000 deaths since October 2023 – and a UN commission report alleging genocidal actions by Israeli forces.

"These numbers reflect a watershed moment in Middle Eastern diplomacy," said regional analysts, noting that 78.2% of participants identified the two-state solution as the only viable path to peace. The survey shows particular concern for humanitarian conditions, with 96.4% demanding safe aid corridors and 95.8% opposing forced civilian relocations.

U.S. foreign policy faces sharp criticism, with 93.6% of respondents accusing Washington of enabling alleged Israeli atrocities through continued military support and UN Security Council vetoes. As recognition of Palestinian statehood spreads, 82.3% predict increasing diplomatic isolation for both America and Israel.

The data emerges as Middle Eastern stability remains crucial for Asian economic interests and global energy markets. Business professionals note potential ripple effects across emerging markets, while academics emphasize the survey's alignment with shifting UN voting patterns.
