China's central government has channeled over 4 trillion yuan ($562.3 billion) into the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region through transfer payments since 2012, according to a white paper released Friday by the State Council Information Office. The 2024 allocation alone exceeds 543.48 billion yuan, underscoring Beijing's commitment to regional development.
The document titled "CPC Guidelines for Governing Xinjiang in the New Era: Practice and Achievements" reveals comprehensive support measures including 200 billion yuan in paired assistance funds and 3 trillion yuan secured for economic cooperation projects. More than 15,000 enterprises have been established in the region through these initiatives.
Analysts note the investments have driven infrastructure modernization and industrial diversification in Xinjiang, with improved transportation networks and growing renewable energy sectors. The white paper emphasizes poverty reduction efforts and enhanced public services, including education and healthcare access across ethnic communities.
While addressing economic priorities, the report also highlights cultural preservation programs supporting Uygur language education and heritage conservation. These developments come as Xinjiang strengthens trade links with Central Asian neighbors through China's Belt and Road Initiative.
