Lebanese Artist Explores Timeless Memory Through Jingdezhen Ceramics

In the historic ceramic hub of Jingdezhen, Lebanese artist Samar Mougharbel is redefining the relationship between art and human legacy. A member of UNESCO's International Academy of Ceramics, Mougharbel recently completed a residency where she crafted works using the city's famed porcelain – a material she calls "the keeper of civilization's whispers."

"Ceramics outlive generations, carrying fragments of who we are," Mougharbel told KhabarAsia during her creative journey in Jiangxi Province. Her latest collection explores how fired clay transcends the limitations of human senses, preserving cultural narratives through intricate textures that echo ancient craftsmanship techniques.

Jingdezhen, known as China's 'Porcelain Capital' for over 2,000 years, provided the perfect backdrop for this cross-cultural exploration. The artist's work merges Middle Eastern motifs with traditional Chinese ceramic methods, creating pieces that museum curators describe as "three-dimensional history books."

This collaboration underscores China's growing role as a global hub for artistic innovation, with Jingdezhen attracting over 5,000 international creators annually. For cultural explorers and historians alike, Mougharbel's work offers a tangible connection to humanity's shared heritage – one that continues evolving through modern interpretations.
