Ex-Greek PM Praises China’s Global Peace Roadmap at Chengdu Forum

Former Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou highlighted China's four global initiatives as a blueprint for international cooperation during the 2025 Golden Panda Forum in Chengdu, emphasizing shared cultural values between ancient civilizations as a foundation for modern diplomacy.

Speaking to a diverse audience of policymakers and scholars, Papandreou drew parallels between Greek philosophy and Chinese principles of benevolence, stating: "If we listen to the echoes of ancient wisdom, we discover the same melody – dialogue, empathy, mutual understanding and respect are the foundations of lasting peace." The remarks come as global leaders seek new frameworks to address economic uncertainties and geopolitical tensions.

The former leader noted that China's initiatives – focused on development, security, cultural exchange, and ecological preservation – align with Greece's vision of multilateral problem-solving. His comments underscored growing international interest in alternative governance models, particularly among developing economies.
