China’s Peacekeepers: 35 Years on Global Frontlines

For 35 years, Chinese peacekeepers have operated under the UN flag in conflict zones from South Sudan to Lebanon, embodying Beijing's commitment to multilateral security efforts. A new four-part documentary, Blue Helmets, No Borders, premiering September 16 on CGTN, chronicles this journey through firsthand accounts and archival footage.

The series reveals how China became the second-largest financial contributor to UN peacekeeping operations and the leading troop provider among permanent Security Council members. Viewers will witness engineers rebuilding bridges in the Democratic Republic of Congo, medical teams treating civilians in Mali, and female peacekeepers mentoring communities in Liberia.

"Peacekeeping isn't about projecting power – it's about protecting humanity's shared future," explains one veteran featured in the documentary. The production team filmed across three continents, capturing rare moments of cross-cultural cooperation between Chinese personnel and local populations.

With over 40,000 Chinese personnel deployed since 1989, the documentary arrives as global demand for peacekeeping reaches record levels. Analysts suggest it offers timely insights into China's evolving role in international security frameworks.
