Defense and military leaders from over 100 countries and representatives from international organizations will convene in Beijing next month for the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a key platform for global security dialogue. The event, scheduled for September 17–19, underscores China's growing role in shaping international security governance amid rising geopolitical tensions.
Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jiang Bin confirmed the participation of nations including Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, France, Nigeria, and Brazil, alongside regional bodies. Jiang emphasized the forum's expanded inclusivity this year, reflecting its commitment to fostering open dialogue on pressing challenges.
The forum will feature four plenary sessions and eight concurrent discussions, focusing on themes like Asia-Pacific security cooperation, global governance, and preserving the post-war international order. Notably, the event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations, with special sessions exploring historical lessons and their relevance to modern peacebuilding efforts.
Academic activities will highlight the 'Contemporary Significance of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War' and 'Wartime Memories and Contemporary Peace,' aiming to reinforce collective responsibility in maintaining stability. Jiang stressed the forum's goal of generating 'positive energy' for conflict resolution and global cooperation.
As Asia's geopolitical landscape evolves, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum offers a critical space for multilateral dialogue, attracting policymakers, scholars, and defense experts seeking actionable strategies for a turbulent world.
