China’s V-Day Commemorations Highlight Peace, Global Unity

As China marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, President Xi Jinping emphasized a forward-looking vision during commemorative events in Beijing. The September 3 military parade and gathering at Tian'anmen Square underscored themes of historical remembrance and collective peacebuilding.

Pillar of Peaceful Development

President Xi reiterated China's constitutional commitment to peaceful development, noting its status as the top contributor of UN peacekeepers among Security Council members. Recent diplomatic efforts – including mediating Middle Eastern reconciliations and supporting Palestinian unity talks – demonstrate Beijing's active role in conflict resolution.

Shaping Equitable Global Governance

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, Xi proposed the Global Governance Initiative, building on China's BRICS expansion advocacy and African Union's G20 inclusion. This complements existing frameworks like the Belt and Road Initiative and Global Security Initiative, which have gained participation from over 150 countries.

Analysts observe that China's commemorations blend historical reflection with contemporary diplomacy. As Xi stated: 'Our remembrance isn't about dwelling in the past, but lighting the way for future generations' peace.' The events highlight Beijing's dual focus on honoring WWII sacrifices while positioning itself as a stabilizer in multipolar world order.
