Xi Jinping Outlines Vision for SCO’s Future at Tianjin Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed global leaders at the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting in Tianjin on Monday, emphasizing strengthened regional cooperation and multilateralism amid evolving geopolitical challenges. The summit brought together leaders from Eurasian member states to discuss security, economic integration, and sustainable development.

In his keynote speech, Xi highlighted the SCO's role as "a crucial platform for maintaining regional stability and fostering shared prosperity." He called for enhanced collaboration in counter-terrorism, digital economy innovation, and climate-resilient infrastructure, aligning with China's Belt and Road Initiative. Notably, Xi proposed establishing an SCO energy partnership to ensure supply chain stability across member nations.

The meeting marked Belarus' formal admission as the 10th SCO member, expanding the organization's influence in Eastern Europe. Discussions also covered joint responses to cybersecurity threats and food security challenges exacerbated by global market fluctuations.

Analysts observe the summit's outcomes could reshape trade corridors between Asia and Europe, with particular implications for Central Asian energy exporters and technology importers. The SCO's growing membership now represents over 40% of the global population, positioning it as a key counterbalance in multipolar diplomacy.
