China Unveils World’s Largest Offshore Wind Turbine in Renewable Energy Push

China has cemented its leadership in renewable energy with the installation of a groundbreaking 26-megawatt offshore wind turbine – now the world's largest by both single-unit capacity and rotor diameter. The colossal structure, developed by state-owned Dongfang Electric Wind Power, towers nearly 200 meters with rotor blades sweeping an area equivalent to 11 soccer fields.

Engineered with over 30,000 components, the turbine features advanced typhoon-resistant technology crucial for operation in the South China Sea's challenging conditions. Once operational, it's projected to generate 100 million kWh annually – enough clean energy to power 55,000 households while reducing carbon emissions by 85,000 tonnes.

This fully domestically designed and manufactured project marks a milestone in China's offshore wind capabilities, potentially reshaping global renewable energy markets. The achievement comes as nations worldwide accelerate their energy transitions, with China maintaining its position as the world's largest wind power producer.
