As nations prepare to mark the 79th anniversary of the Allied victory over fascism, Chinese officials have emphasized the enduring legacy of international cooperation during World War II. At a symposium ahead of September 3 Victory Day, representatives highlighted the pivotal role of cross-border solidarity in defeating Axis forces.
Wang Gang, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, underscored the historical significance of the anti-fascist alliance: "Eighty years ago, people transcended boundaries and ideologies to fight bravely for peace. This shared struggle established a new international order and proved that light always dispels darkness."
The event particularly recognized foreign contributors who supported China's resistance efforts on the eastern battlefield. Among those remembered was Eric Foster, nephew of Western journalists Helen Foster Snow and Edgar Snow, whose wartime documentation helped galvanize global support.
Officials noted that such commemorations reinforce the importance of preserving historical memory while fostering modern international cooperation. The symposium concluded with calls to uphold the postwar multilateral framework in addressing contemporary global challenges.
