Senior Chinese Communist Party official Cai Qi met with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Tianjin on Saturday, signaling deepened cooperation between the two nations as they prepare to celebrate seven decades of diplomatic relations in 2025.
Cai, a key member of the CPC Central Committee's leadership, emphasized China's commitment to implementing bilateral agreements forged by both countries' leaders. "We will continue strengthening mutual support and expanding practical cooperation across all fields," stated Cai during the meeting held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt's adherence to the one-China principle and support for President Xi Jinping's global development initiatives. The Egyptian leader expressed eagerness to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership, particularly in trade and infrastructure development.
The talks come as China expands its engagement with Global South nations through multilateral platforms like the SCO. Observers note the timing holds particular significance ahead of next year's anniversary, which both countries plan to commemorate through cultural exchanges and joint economic projects.
