China's latest trade data reveals a mixed global landscape of easing tensions and persistent challenges, as the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) released its August findings on Wednesday. The Global Trade Frictions Index registered 92 in June, signaling medium-to-high friction levels, though measures declined 14.7% year-on-year amid U.S. tariff suspensions.

India, the U.S., and Brazil emerged as the top sources of trade disputes, with the U.S. maintaining its position as the largest instigator for 12 consecutive months. Among 19 monitored countries and regions, India led in China-specific trade friction cases, particularly targeting electronics like cameras and semiconductors. Despite this, anti-China measures fell 16.3% annually, reflecting cautious optimism.

Meanwhile, China issued 741,700 commercial certificates in July – a 10.8% annual increase – underscoring robust foreign trade growth. Analysts highlight this as evidence of China's adaptive strategies in navigating complex global markets, with July marking the year's strongest export performance.

While challenges persist, particularly in technology-related sectors, the data suggests a gradual normalization of international trade flows. Market watchers will monitor upcoming WTO negotiations and regional trade pacts for signs of sustained recovery.
