Central Delegation Visits Lhasa, Stresses Stability and Development in Xizang

A high-level delegation from the Chinese mainland, led by Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Lhasa this week to engage with local officials and residents. The visit coincides with celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Xizang Autonomous Region.

Wang emphasized the need to advance four key priorities: maintaining stability, fostering economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening border areas. He urged collective efforts to promote 'lasting peace, stability, and high-quality development' during meetings with city officials, ethnic group representatives, and religious leaders.

At the historic Jokhang Temple, Wang acknowledged the role of religious figures in safeguarding national unity and encouraged their participation in building a 'modern socialist new Xizang.' The delegation also inspected Xizang University's academic programs and reviewed urban greening initiatives, underscoring the importance of education and ecological preservation.

Wang reiterated the central government's focus on improving livelihoods, creating employment opportunities, and advancing common prosperity. The visit highlights Beijing's ongoing commitment to integrating regional development with national priorities.
