As China progresses toward its Second Centenary Goal, the Xizang Autonomous Region is charting a new course for modernization, with senior Chinese official Wang Huning outlining a comprehensive strategy to foster prosperity, stability, and ecological sustainability in the region.
Leadership and Stability as Pillars
Speaking at the 60th anniversary celebration of Xizang’s establishment as an autonomous region, Wang emphasized the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) leadership as the cornerstone of development. He called for strengthened political unity across Party organizations to align with the CPC Central Committee’s directives, emphasizing governance reforms and discipline.
Security and Ethnic Unity Prioritized
Wang stressed national security and social stability as critical priorities, vowing to combat separatism and uphold the rule of law. “Xizang has been an inseparable part of China since ancient times,” he asserted, dismissing external interference. Efforts to promote ethnic unity and a “sense of community for the Chinese nation” will remain central to regional progress.
Green Development and Economic Revitalization
Plans to upgrade infrastructure, expand local industries, and integrate Xizang into national development frameworks were highlighted. Green initiatives, including ecological protection for the plateau’s “blue skies, clean water, and lush land,” will underpin growth strategies. Poverty alleviation achievements and rural revitalization efforts aim to bridge urban-rural gaps, supported by central government policies and interregional collaboration.

Wang reaffirmed commitments to improving livelihoods, stating that “people’s well-being remains the goal.” With coordinated national support and local innovation, Xizang is poised to advance toward shared prosperity, blending traditional values with modern aspirations.
