Nanchang’s Qiushui Square: Asia’s Second-Largest Fountain Show Dazzles Visitors

Nanchang's Qiushui Square, a glittering jewel along the Ganjiang River in east China's Jiangxi Province, has become a must-visit destination for its fusion of natural beauty and urban innovation. Known locally as Autumn Water Square, this waterfront marvel features Asia's second-largest musical fountain system – a synchronized dance of water, light, and sound that transforms nightly into a liquid canvas painting the sky.

The square's 800-meter promenade offers panoramic views of Nanchang's modern skyline while maintaining deep cultural roots, with design elements reflecting Jiangxi's rich history. Evening visitors are treated to the fountain's main performance, where 1,386 spray heads launch water columns up to 128 meters high, choreographed to both classical Chinese compositions and global musical favorites.

Beyond the aquatic spectacle, the square serves as a social hub where residents practice tai chi at dawn and families gather at dusk. Its strategic location connects historic sites like the Tengwang Pavilion with modern commercial districts, making it a microcosm of China's balanced approach to urban development.
