China’s Premier Li Calls for New Era of Ecological Civilization

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for accelerated efforts to build an ecological civilization, emphasizing the need to transform environmental protection into a driver of sustainable development. Speaking at the National Ecology Day main event on Friday, Li stressed the importance of implementing the guiding principle that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" across all sectors.

As a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Li outlined three key priorities during his symposium address: integrating green development into economic planning, advancing technological innovation in environmental protection, and fostering public participation in ecological initiatives. The remarks come as China intensifies efforts to balance economic growth with climate commitments under its dual-carbon goals.

The National Ecology Day event highlighted progress in reforestation projects and renewable energy adoption, with particular focus on the Yangtze River Economic Belt's ecological restoration. Analysts suggest these developments could create new opportunities in green technology markets while addressing urban air quality concerns.
