Netanyahu Weighs Gaza Strategy Amid Escalating Conflict

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened top security officials on Tuesday to finalize military plans for Gaza, signaling potential escalation in the nearly two-year conflict. The meeting comes as international mediators struggle to revive collapsed ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.

Local health authorities reported at least 20 fatalities from Israeli gunfire near UN aid distribution points in northern Gaza, with 20 others injured in similar incidents near Rafah. Gaza's Health Ministry confirmed eight starvation-related deaths in 24 hours, alongside 80 casualties from renewed shelling.

Netanyahu's office described a three-hour security review where military leaders presented operational options. Defense Minister Israel Katz and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer joined discussions ahead of a crucial cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday evening.

While global calls for humanitarian pauses intensify, Israeli media suggests the government may pursue full military control of Gaza. The proposed strategy could reshape regional dynamics as civilian casualties mount and aid access remains constrained.
