China’s 15th National Games Torch ‘Blossom’ Unveiled in Shenzhen

The torch for China's 15th National Games, 12th National Para Games, and 9th National Special Olympics was unveiled in Shenzhen on Saturday, marking a milestone in preparations for the multi-sport event. Dubbed 'Blossom,' the torch symbolizes unity among Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR through its design rooted in shared Lingnan cultural heritage.

Lead designer He Ye emphasized the philosophy of 'fusion and glory,' blending elements like the Guangdong kapok, Hong Kong bauhinia, and Macao lotus flowers into the flame nozzle. The 76-centimeter gold-colored torch features a peony-patterned base and modular construction using 3D-printed stainless steel and aluminium alloy, balancing tradition with technological innovation.

Accompanying the torch reveal were the victory ceremony music, podium attire, and medals for the National Para Games. The music incorporates the classic Lingnan melody 'Color Clouds Chasing the Moon,' while the pink mamianqun-inspired attire showcases Yue embroidery. The 'United Warmth' medals highlight inclusivity, a core theme of the events.

The 15th National Games will take place from November 9-21, jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The Para Games and Special Olympics will follow two weeks later, underscoring the region's collaborative spirit and commitment to fostering athletic excellence.
