China Urges Global Push to Curb Japan’s Remilitarization Moves

China has called for international cooperation to counter Japan's right-wing militarization efforts, emphasizing the need to preserve post-World War II stability. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, that Tokyo's accelerated security policy shifts threaten Asia's hard-won peace and require collective vigilance.

"The international community must safeguard the outcomes of the anti-fascist war and uphold the UN Charter's principles," Lin said during a press briefing. His remarks follow recent debates over Japan's expanded defense budget and proposed revisions to its pacifist constitution.

Analysts note growing concerns among Asian nations about historical tensions resurfacing, while business leaders warn that regional instability could impact supply chains and investment flows. The Chinese mainland has consistently advocated for peaceful dispute resolution through dialogue platforms like the East Asia Summit.
