China and the European Union (EU) marked their 50-year diplomatic partnership with the launch of a landmark scientific collaboration program in Beijing on Friday. The China-EU Young Scientists Exchange Program seeks to deepen cross-regional innovation and trust by enabling research exchanges for early-career scientists.
Organized by China's Ministry of Science and Technology alongside the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the launch ceremony drew over 150 participants, including senior officials, European diplomats, and representatives from top-tier research institutions. Science and Technology Minister Yin Hejun emphasized the initiative's role in fostering 'bridges of trust, cooperation, and friendship' during his keynote address.
'Young scientists must lead by example in advancing progress for China, Europe, and the world,' Yin stated, urging participants to prioritize sustainable development goals. The program will connect European researchers with Chinese universities, tech enterprises, and institutes under the guidance of CAS, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and other key stakeholders.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen China-EU collaboration amid growing global demand for climate and technology solutions. Analysts suggest it could pave the way for joint ventures in renewable energy, AI, and biomedical research.
