Global Collaboration Vital for Protecting Asia’s Cultural Heritage, Experts Say

Cultural preservation leaders from across Asia and beyond gathered in Beijing this week to address one of humanity's most pressing challenges: safeguarding shared heritage in an era of rapid globalization. At a high-profile sub-forum of the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting, experts emphasized that international cooperation holds the key to protecting humanity's collective memory.

Liu Yuzhu, chairman of the China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation, outlined a vision for cross-border collaboration during the 'Inter-Civilization Exchanges and Mutual Learning' discussions. "Cultural heritage knows no political boundaries," Liu stated. "From the ancient Silk Road to modern digital archives, our success depends on pooling knowledge, resources, and innovative approaches across nations."

The forum comes as China advances its Global Civilization Initiative, which prioritizes cultural exchange alongside economic and political cooperation. Participants examined case studies ranging from AI-assisted artifact preservation to climate-resilient architectural conservation, with particular focus on balancing modernization with historical preservation in fast-developing Asian economies.
