China-South Asia Expo Boosts Regional Trade, Green Innovation

The 9th China-South Asia Expo in Kunming has emerged as a catalyst for cross-border collaboration, drawing over 2,500 enterprises to showcase innovations in green energy, digital trade, and manufacturing. Running through June 24 in Yunnan Province, the event underscores China's commitment to fostering supply chain resilience and inclusive globalization amid shifting economic landscapes.

Vietnam Eyes Win-Win Partnerships

Bui Lien Thao of Vietnam's Trade Promotion Agency highlighted the expo's role in advancing sustainable cooperation: 'Supply chain collaboration with China reduces over-dependence while building mutual resilience.' She praised China's support for multilateral frameworks like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which aligns with Vietnam's priorities in infrastructure development and tech-driven trade.

From LED Bulbs to Afghan Carpets

Bangladeshi entrepreneur MD Samrat Babor explored energy-efficient lighting solutions, noting China's growing influence in South Asia's green transition: 'Even my family uses these high-quality LED bulbs.' Meanwhile, Afghan merchant Ali Azghar Faiz returned for his third expo, expanding his carpet designs to meet Chinese consumer preferences. 'This platform opens doors for Afghan culture and products,' he said.

Trade Growth & New Opportunities

China-South Asia trade has doubled since 2013 to nearly $200 billion annually, supported by zero-tariff policies for least-developed nations. The expo facilitated landmark deals like Dubai's Forevermore Flower Trading securing a $21 million contract with Yunnan suppliers. 'Yunnan's floral diversity matches Middle Eastern market demands perfectly,' said company representative Xu Nan.

With 70% of exhibition space dedicated to specialized sectors and $110 billion in historical trade deals facilitated, the event continues advancing Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative while creating pathways for high-quality development across Asia.
