Xi Urges Closer China-Central Asia Ties at Astana Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping outlined an ambitious vision for regional collaboration during his keynote address at the second China-Central Asia Summit in Astana on Tuesday. The speech emphasized strengthening economic integration and cultural bonds between China and the five Central Asian nations.

"Our cooperation must evolve from traditional energy partnerships to innovation-driven growth in digital economy and green technologies," Xi stated, highlighting plans for cross-border smart logistics networks and renewable energy projects.
"The China-Central Asia Spirit thrives on mutual respect and win-win solutions," he added, reaffirming commitments to infrastructure development under the Belt and Road Initiative while announcing new vocational training programs for technical talent.

The address also addressed security coordination, with Xi proposing enhanced intelligence-sharing mechanisms to combat what he termed "the three evils of terrorism, extremism, and separatism." Environmental protection emerged as a key theme, with plans for a transboundary ecological database covering glacier monitoring and desertification control.
