China Issues Renewed Alerts for Rainstorms, Extreme Heat

China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) renewed weather warnings on Tuesday, highlighting dual threats of torrential rain and scorching temperatures across multiple regions. The alerts come as extreme weather patterns intensify seasonal challenges in parts of the country.

Rainstorm Preparedness Intensifies

The NMC maintained a blue alert – the lowest in China's four-tier warning system – forecasting heavy rainfall in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Sichuan provinces through Wednesday. Some areas could see precipitation exceeding 70 millimeters per hour, with thunderstorms and strong winds compounding risks.

Economic and Agricultural Impacts

Authorities have ordered local governments to prioritize drainage system inspections in urban centers, agricultural land, and aquaculture facilities. The measures aim to mitigate potential disruptions to transportation networks and protect vital economic sectors.

Heatwave Challenges

Separately, the NMC warned of persistent high temperatures in northern and central regions, creating energy supply concerns and health risks for vulnerable populations. The dual weather phenomena underscore broader climate patterns affecting Asia's largest economy.
