Global Brands Gather as Hainan Free Trade Port Enters New Phase
The sixth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), currently underway in Haikou until April 18, has drawn over 3,000 brands from 60 countries and regions to Hainan Province. This year's event marks a milestone as the first expo following the full implementation of special customs operations across the Hainan Free Trade Port – a key step in China's broader opening-up strategy.
Panda Brothers Steal Spotlight
Beyond luxury goods and tech innovations, expo attendees are flocking to the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park to meet 11-year-old giant panda brothers Gong Gong and Shun Shun. The duo, who arrived from Sichuan Province in 2019, have become local icons, with their habitat receiving over 10,000 visitors during the expo's opening days.
Economic and Cultural Synergy
"This expo bridges international business opportunities with Hainan's unique cultural assets," said Hainan Commerce Department spokesperson Li Wei. Park director Chen Xiaoliang noted: "Our pandas symbolize China's commitment to ecological conservation while fostering people-to-people connections."
With 80% of exhibition space occupied by international brands and parallel sessions on cross-border e-commerce, the event positions Hainan as both a commercial hub and gateway to Asia's consumer markets.
