Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman will travel to the Chinese mainland from May 5‑7, according to an announcement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday.
The three‑day trip follows an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. The visit is set to highlight the long‑standing friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership that have defined relations between Dhaka and Beijing for more than five decades.
Since diplomatic ties were established on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence—mutual respect, equality, and non‑interference—both nations have nurtured a relationship marked by steady progress and tangible benefits for their peoples, the ministry noted.
Through this upcoming engagement, China aims to work with Bangladesh’s new administration to deepen political mutual trust, expand cooperation across various sectors, and promote high‑quality Belt and Road collaboration. The partnership is expected to enhance infrastructure connectivity, trade, and people‑to‑people exchanges, reinforcing the shared commitment to regional stability and prosperity.
Senior officials from both sides are anticipated to discuss joint projects, investment opportunities, and ways to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the coming years.
