Chinese Language Day Bridges China-Canada Cultural Exchange

The Chinese Embassy in Canada recently hosted a vibrant celebration for International Chinese Language Day on April 20, bringing together approximately 120 Chinese language teachers, students, and enthusiasts from the Ottawa area. The event offered an immersive dive into the charm of Chinese culture and lifestyle.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wang Di highlighted the growing global influence of the Chinese language, describing it as a vital bridge between civilizations and a driver of shared human development. He encouraged more young Canadians to learn Chinese, deepen their understanding of China, and experience Eastern wisdom through cultural diversity, thereby injecting fresh energy into China-Canada people-to-people exchanges.

The embassy organized a series of engaging activities, including the "China Impressions" youth painting exhibition, Chinese language open classes, talent shows, and interactive cultural experiences. Attendees had the opportunity to try calligraphy, learn to make Chinese knots, and sample traditional Chinese dishes, experiencing Chinese lifestyle firsthand.

Additionally, the embassy presented certificates of honor to local Chinese language teachers who have dedicated over 30 years to teaching Chinese, recognizing their longstanding contributions to promoting Chinese culture and fostering China-Canada friendship.

This event underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural ties between China and Canada, highlighting the role of language education in building mutual understanding and cooperation.
