Historic Participation for Host Nation
China has mobilized its largest-ever delegation of 255 members, including 171 athletes, for the 6th Asian Beach Games scheduled to begin next week in Sanya, Hainan Province. This marks a significant milestone as the host nation prepares to compete in 13 sports across 60 events, excluding only beach kabaddi from its roster.
Discipline and Diplomacy at Forefront
At Wednesday's send-off ceremony, Li Jing, deputy director of the General Administration of Sport of China, emphasized strict adherence to anti-doping regulations and competitive integrity. "Our athletes carry both national pride and the spirit of sportsmanship," Li stated, underscoring China's commitment to hosting a successful international event.
Regional Unity Through Sport
All 45 National Olympic Committees under the Olympic Council of Asia will participate, with about 1,800 athletes set to create new participation records. The Games feature 14 sports and 62 events designed to boost tourism and cultural exchange, particularly significant following Hainan's implementation of island-wide special customs operations in December 2025.
Economic and Sporting Synergy
This event marks China's second hosting of the Asian Beach Games since the 2012 Haiyang edition, now positioned as a showcase for Hainan Free Trade Port's development. The Games will test new infrastructure and operational models developed under the province's enhanced trade status.
