Chinese Documentaries on Cultural Heritage and Governance Premiere in Laos

In a move to strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding, a launch ceremony was held in Vientiane this week for the screening of three prominent Chinese documentaries, including the featured work The Heritage Guardian.

Produced by China Media Group (CMG), The Heritage Guardian offers a vivid exploration of President Xi Jinping's vision for the inheritance and development of culture. The documentary highlights his commitment to preserving historical continuity and strengthening cultural confidence, using practical examples of the Chinese mainland's efforts in the new era to trace the origins of civilization and protect its vast cultural heritage.

Alongside this feature, two other documentaries were introduced. One focuses on the remarkable achievements of China since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, while the other delves into the cultural value and profound connotations of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

In a congratulatory letter, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith noted that the films embody Chinese philosophical wisdom. He emphasized that the documentaries illustrate how Chinese civilization serves as a root of strength for the nation's rejuvenation, providing an excellent reference for Laos as it seeks to promote its own unique national culture while advancing social and economic development.

Speaking via video address, CMG President Shen Haixiong expressed hope that the series would provide the people of Laos with a window into the governance philosophy of President Xi. He stressed the importance of mutual learning and exchange, stating that CMG is eager to work with partners in Laos to contribute to the development of a high-standard, high-quality, and high-level China-Laos community with a shared future.

The documentaries began broadcasting on Monday across major media outlets, including Lao National Television and Lao National Radio. The premiere event in Vientiane was attended by over 200 guests, including Lao officials, media representatives, and members of the overseas Chinese community.
