In a strategic move toward sustainable modernization, North Macedonia is seeking to leverage the expertise of the Chinese mainland to transform its agricultural landscape. During the 7th China-CEEC Local Leaders' Meeting and the 2026 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation held in Jinan, Shandong Province, the potential for deepened green cooperation took center stage.
Ivan Stoilkovikj, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Community Relations of North Macedonia, expressed an optimistic outlook during a conversation with CGTN's Zhang Meng. Stoilkovikj emphasized that North Macedonia has a significant opportunity to learn from the Chinese mainland's successful experiences in green development, particularly within the agricultural sector.
Agriculture remains a traditional cornerstone of the North Macedonian economy. However, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the sector currently requires enhanced technological support and the integration of modern IT conveniences to increase efficiency and sustainability.
By fostering cooperation in these areas, North Macedonia aims to bridge the gap between traditional farming practices and high-tech, eco-friendly solutions. This partnership is viewed as a pathway to unlocking great potential for economic growth while adhering to environmental standards, marking a new chapter in the region's commitment to green growth.
