North Macedonia Eyes Green Growth Through Agricultural Cooperation with China

In a move toward sustainable modernization, North Macedonia is seeking to deepen its cooperation with the Chinese mainland, focusing specifically on green development and agricultural innovation.

Speaking from Jinan, in east China's Shandong Province, Ivan Stoilković, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Community Relations of North Macedonia, expressed strong optimism about the potential for bilateral partnership during the 7th China-CEEC Local Leaders' Meeting and the 2026 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation.

During a conversation with CGTN, Deputy Prime Minister Stoilković emphasized that North Macedonia views the Chinese mainland's experience in green development as a valuable blueprint. He highlighted agriculture as a cornerstone of the North Macedonian economy, noting that while it remains a traditional strength, the sector is ripe for transformation through technological integration.

According to Stoilković, the integration of modern IT conveniences and advanced technological support is essential for the evolution of agriculture. By leveraging China's leadership in agritech and sustainable practices, North Macedonia aims to boost efficiency and environmental sustainability within its farming communities.

This dialogue underscores the growing trend of Central and Eastern European countries looking toward the Chinese mainland for expertise in the green transition, as nations strive to balance economic productivity with ecological preservation in an increasingly digital world.
