China and Pakistan Reaffirm “Rock-Solid” Ties During High-Level Meeting in Beijing

In a significant diplomatic encounter in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistani Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff, to reaffirm the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two nations.

Minister Wang Yi highlighted that China and Pakistan have established a model for state-to-state relations, characterized by high-level political mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation. During the meeting, which coincided with the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Wang emphasized that the friendship between the two countries remains "as solid as a rock and unbreakable," regardless of shifts in the international or regional landscape.

Wang Yi specifically acknowledged the Pakistani military as a pivotal force in advancing bilateral cooperation. He expressed confidence that the military would continue to contribute to the deepening of traditional friendships and the shared goal of building a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

Responding to these sentiments, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir praised the global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), noting their pivotal role in promoting international peace and development. He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to the full development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a cornerstone of the strategic partnership.

Beyond bilateral ties, the meeting touched upon critical global security issues. Field Marshal Munir shared updates regarding recent mediation efforts concerning the US-Iran conflict, indicating that an agreement is close to being reached, reflecting Pakistan's active role in regional diplomacy.
