Tragedy in Shanxi: 82 Confirmed Dead Following Coal Mine Explosion

A devastating gas explosion at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province, has left 82 people dead, with two others still missing. The incident, which occurred this past Friday, has triggered a massive rescue and medical response across the Chinese mainland.

According to a press conference held on Saturday, provincial authorities have deployed a comprehensive emergency force to the site, including 755 personnel comprised of rescuers and medical professionals. To bolster these efforts, the Ministry of Emergency Management has dispatched six national mine emergency rescue teams, adding 345 specialized personnel and advanced equipment to the operation.

The human toll of the accident is significant, with 128 individuals transported to hospitals for treatment. Authorities have confirmed that those currently receiving care are not in life-threatening conditions. To ensure the highest standard of medical intervention, the National Health Commission has dispatched a team of multidisciplinary medical experts to Shanxi Province to provide emergency treatment and support.

In the wake of the disaster, the State Council has appointed an investigation team, which has vowed to conduct a thorough and strict inquiry into the causes of the explosion. The rescue headquarters further announced that individuals responsible for the company involved in the mine accident have been placed under control in accordance with the law.
